On the 6th of February we were dismayed like the rest of the world to hear about the tragic earthquakes in Syria and Turkey. It wasn’t long before Eleni started to get texts and phone calls from our our Syrian friends, many of whose families were directly affected by the earthquakes. Adham’s Nephew and wife were killed when their building collapsed. Jihan, Desla, Fidan and Muchtar’s father and Izat’s family all lost their homes.
We immediately started sorting out packages of clothes and purchased hygiene products to send to Turkey and Syria. In the first week we sent 13 boxes and the second week 17. A team of young Dutch volunteersfrom Christian Refugee Relief (CRR) came along to help us sort out the second lot of parcels. We were grateful for their help and enthusiasm.
